DDEX presents The BIG Summit 2023!

Expect to hear often passionate views from very experienced individuals working with record companies, music publishers, collectives, distributors, digital music services and technology companies.

  • Welcome by Kim Beauchamp, DDEX Chair and SVP Process Innovation & Advanced Operations, Universal Music Group (US); and
  • Introductory remarks by Susan Butler, Executive Editor/Publisher, Music Confidential (US)

ICE, ICE, BABY!

ICE and collective evolution.

Kickers:
Peter de Mönnink: CEO (and formerly CEO Talpa Network, TalpaTV, Talpa Media Services), ICE
Nigel Elderton: President Europe, peermusic (and formerly Chair, PRS for Music)

ANOTHER DIMENSION OF IDENTIFYING & TRACKING

Whether it’s music stems, music in short-form videos, NFTs or anything Web3, the need for identifying and tracking the use of music has reached a new level. Maybe even another dimension. What can or should be some of the best ways to follow the music here?

Kickers:
Ben Markowitz: Director, Music Data & Rights Management, TikTok
Phil Sant: Co-founder, Salt & Session
Matt Waters: CEO, Unchained Music

AND NOW… THE METAVERSE

A dystopian future so promising that a company with nearly 3 billion users actually changed its name to Meta. A future so inspiring that reportedly more than 500 companies are focused directly on the metaverse, and practically every major tech company, brand, influencer, and gaming company is getting involved in the interconnected virtual worlds. But what is it?

Kickers:
Scott Sellwood: Director, Music Business Development & Partnerships, Meta Platforms
Chris Sumner: Director, Label & Music Product Business Development, Meta Platforms

CONTROLLING CONTENT

Fraudulent streams or streaming fraud. Quality control. Music integrity. Ineligible content. Whatever you call the music that should not be available on a streaming platform, detecting and removing that music is even more challenging on social media and short-form video platforms. There must be better ways, right?

Kickers:
Dan Simpson: Head of Label Operations, Meta Platforms
Scott Ambrose Reilly: SVP of Content, The Orchard
