Udu
A spherical clay pot with an open stem and a big hole on the side. Udu is a Igbo word meaning 'vessel'. The Udu is played by quickly hitting the big hole, which produces a bass sound. The pitch can be changed by adjusting the position of the hand above the upper hole at the top of the stem. Traditionally played by Igbo women for ceremonial use.
