Orpharion
Metal-stringed lute instrument from the Renaissance in the cittern family. It had a tilted nut and bridge to vary string length from the treble to the bass notes. A softer pluck was required to play the orpharion versus the lute because the metal strings had very low tension and could distort if plucked too hard.
