Fiddle
A folk term for the violin. Essentially synonymous with violin, but as 'fiddle' generally refers to a folk instrument and not a highfalutin expensive orchestral thingy, the 'fiddle' is sometimes smaller or more primitively constructed than a typical orchestral violin. Typically taught and played by ear, rather than with written music.
