DarkWave
Although Darkwave can be traced back to the beginnings of Post Punk and Synth Pop, the term was first used in the early 1980s to describe bands of these styles with a noticeably dark sound and lyrics. Darkwave is essentially Post Punk with a gothic sound and lyrics focusing on self-deprecation, angst and drug use.
