Influenced by American Rock n Roll and Blues, a wave of British bands found popularity in the U.S. in the mid-1960s-- thanks in no small part to the Beatles. Their sound reflected a range of styles-- from bluesy hard rock to sweet pop/rock. A second wave in the late 60s found influence in both American musicians and their British precedents.
