Acousmatic
Sound is heard, but the sound source is not clearly discernable. It is typically used in connection with musique concréte, a style of music that involves the layering and manipulation of multiple independent sounds by creative use of tape. The term acousmatic can also be applied to nondiegetic film music, or to all fixed media compositions, whether in combination with live sound sources or not.
