Characteristic
A supporting term for the messages.
An intrinsic Attribute of an Entity which is an instance of an Aspect of that Entity.
Comments Scope:
A Characteristic is a value of an Aspect of the Entity (for example, the Characteristic 'Hot' is a value of the Aspect 'Temperature', or 'Green' is a value of the Aspect 'Color'). Characteristics include all kinds of intrinsic qualities (eg Green, Greenness) and quantities (eg 1.97 metres) which may be attributed to an Entity. According to functional requirements, many Characteristics may be accounted for either quantitivatively or qualitively: for example, a person's Height may be described as 1.97 metres (Quantity) or as Tall (Quality); or the playing time of video as 16 mins 23 secs (Quantity) or 'Shortplay' (Quality).
