ImageCodec

A supporting term for the messages.

An algorithm to compress and uncompress an Image Resource for storage and/or transmission.

Relationships
Parents	Codec	An algorithm to compress and uncompress a Resource for storage and/or transmission. Note that this is not a container format (e.g. WAV files can use PCM and MP3 codecs).
Children	GIF	Grafics Interchange Format as specified by W3C.
	JPEG	An ImageCodec defined by the Joint Photographic Expert Group and specified in ISO/IEC 10918.
	JPEG2000	An ImageCodec defined by the Joint Photographic Expert Group and specified in ISO/IEC 15444.
	PNG	Portable Network Graphics, a bitmapped image format that employs lossless data compression, as specified in ISO/IEC 15948:2003.
	TIFF	Tagged Image File Format as specified by Adobe.
