Cabasa
A cylindrical piece of wood with washboard-like metal material wrapped around it, and strings of loose, moveable, metal beads wrapped around the corrugated metal material. Sound is produced when the beads are moved across the corrugated metal. The modern, metal cabasa was developed in the 1960s by Martin Cohen as a variation on traditional African instruments.
