Alpenhorn
A very long natural horn with conical bore and a cup-shaped mouthpiece. Most often made of softwood - typically spruce, but sometimes pine. It was traditionally used by Western European mountain dwellers for communication, but is now primarily used as a musical instrument. The Alpenhorn has no pitch-altering devices and can only play notes in the harmonic series.
